UC MERCED LIBRARY TUTORIALS

Creating a RefWorks Account

Use the Right Arrow at the bottom of this window to move through the tutorial.

Introduction

This tutorial will show you how to create an account in RefWorks, a citation manager.

Citation Managers -- like RefWorks -- help you to compile, organize, and format your references.

The Library subscribes to RefWorks, so UC Merced students, faculty, and staff can use it for free.

Use the active webpage on your right to complete the tutorial.

VPN Information

If you are off campus, you must be connected to the VPN in order to use RefWorks.

If you need to, follow the link to download and install the VPN and then return to this screen.

You can also see our tutorial about using the VPN.

When you are finished, or if you do not need to install the VPN, continue.

Creating Your Account

To start, click on "Sign Up for a New Account" on the RefWorks page to the right. Fill in the required information and then log in.

Please complete the sign up / login process before proceeding to the next tab.

Once you are logged in to RefWorks, you will see your name in the upper righthand corner.

You will also see any references you have imported. If you are signing in for the first time, you will have no references.

Importing references will be addressed in other tutorials in this series.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You now have an account in RefWorks. Please see other tutorials in this series for information on importing references and using RefWorks' many special features.
