This tutorial will show you how to find an original research article in the Public Library of Science (PloS) database.

Use the active webpage on your right to complete the tutorial.

  • Click on the Databases tab in the search box on the library home page.

  • Type in plos.
  • Click Go.
  • Click on the Public Library of Science (PLOS) - Biology link in the results list.

  • Enter a term in the search box on the right side of the screen. For example: asthma.
  • Click on the magnifying glass icon to search or click enter on the keyboard.

  • From the results list, scroll down to the Article Type area on the left side of the screen.
  • Click on the Research Article box to narrow results to original research articles.

  • Look at the list of results.
  • Find an article of interest. For example: "Skin-Derived TSLP Triggers Progression from Epidermal-Barrier Defects to Asthma."
  • Click on the article title.

  • Read or skim the article.
  • If this is the article you want, click on the Download PDF button on the right side of the screen, and save it.
