Introduction

This tutorial will show you how to find film reviews in Performing Arts Periodicals Database (ProQuest), one of the library's databases. To demonstrate, we'll be searching for reviews of the movie Batman Forever.

Finding Databases with Movie Reviews

You can find film reviews in several of our library databases. From the library's home page follow these steps to see a list of those databases:

• Click the Databases tab on the earch box.
  

  

• Click on the dropdown under "All Database Types."

• Click the Movie Reviews link under types.

  

  This will show you a list of databases where movie reviews appear.

Searching in International Index to Performing Arts

Performing Arts Periodicals Database (ProQuest) is a great place to find film reviews. Follow these steps to see how it's done:

• Scroll down and click on the link to Performing Arts Periodicals Database (ProQuest)
• Type or cut and paste "Batman Forever" in the first search box.
• Scroll down until you see Document Type on the left hand side of the page.
• In the box next to Document Type, scroll down until you see film review and check the box next to it.
• Click Search.
• Use the full-text html or pdf links to navigate to the full text of the review. If you don't see a link to the full text, use UC-eLinks to navigate to the full text of the review.

Using Other Databases to find Movie Reviews

You may find movie reviews in other databases besides the Performing Arts Periodicals Database. Just use the same techniques we've practiced in this tutorial to find them:

• Enter the title of the movie in "quotation marks" in the search box.
• Look for a Document Type limiter to narrow your search to reviews.
