Importing References from Google Scholar Into Refworks

Introduction

This tutorial will show you how to import references from Google Scholar into RefWorks.

Use the active webpage on your right to complete the tutorial.

Logging Into RefWorks

In order to access RefWorks, log in on the screen to the right.

If you have never used RefWorks before, click here to access the RefWorks 1: Creating a RefWorks Account tutorial.

How to Access Google Scholar

Now that RefWorks is open, you will be able to import references from Google Scholar into your account.

Open Google Scholar in a new window by copying and pasting the url below.

Note: The reason you need to open Google Scholar in a new window is because of its functionality within the tutorial host format.

How to Search in Google Scholar

 In the search box, type or copy and paste a search term.

  • Click on the blue Search box,
    to the right.

How to Export References

  • Click on the dropdown menu next to More beneath the record of a result you are interested in.
  • Select Cite

  • A Cite Box will appear. In the box, click on Import into RefWorks.

  • RefWorks will open a new tab on your browser. (If this does not happen, check the original tab where you opened RefWorks earlier.)

Viewing References in RefWorks

RefWorks will display the Import References box.

Click on the View Last Imported Folder button to see the reference you imported into RefWorks.
