Creating a Bibliography

Introduction

This tutorial will show you how to create a bibliography using references you have imported into RefWorks.

Use the active webpage on your right to complete the tutorial.

Logging Into RefWorks

In order to access RefWorks, log in on the screen to the right.

Creating a Bibliography: Intro

There are several methods you can use to create a bibliography in RefWorks:

  • Clicking on the Create Bibliography button
  • Using the Bibliography dropdown menu
  • Using the Create Bibliography function under Quick Access

We will look at each method.

Note: You may need to open RefWorks in a separate window to access its functionality during the tutorial.

From your RefWorks homepage, click on the Create Bibliography button at the top of the screen.

You will know you are at your RefWorks homepage because you will see your name in the top right corner.

The Create Bibliography pop-up box will appear (see below). From here, select your desired Output Style, File Type, and references to include.

For File Type, select the type that will work best for your computer: for example, Word for Mac (98 or later).

Be careful! RefWorks defaults to include all references, so make sure you have selected the right ones.

When you have made your selections, click Create Bibliography in the bottom right corner.

A pop-up window will appear.

From there, you can open your bibliography.

You can also create a bibliography using the dropdown menu next to Bibliography, at the top of your screen.

From there, select "Create Bibliography."

Now select your choices in the Output Style, File Type, and References to Include sections, and click Create Bibliography.

A pop-up box will appear with options that let you view and download your bibliography.

3) Using the Create Bibliography function under Quick Access:

On the righthand side of the screen, there is a box that says Quick Access.

Click on Create Bibliography, in the Quick Access box.

Now select your choices in the Output Style, File Type, and References to Include sections, and click Create Bibliography.

A pop-up box will appear with options that let you view and download your bibliography.
