Selecting a Citation Output Style

Use the Right Arrow at the bottom of this window to move through the tutorial.

Introduction

This tutorial will show you how to select a citation output style using RefWorks.

Selecting a citation output style is important because the style you choose will determine how your references are formatted in your bibliography.

Some frequently used citation styles include MLA, APA, Chicago, and Turabian.

Use the active webpage on your right to complete the tutorial.

Logging Into RefWorks

In order to access RefWorks, log in on the screen to the right.

If you have never used RefWorks before, click here to access the RefWorks 1: Creating a RefWorks Account tutorial.

Accessing the Output Style Manager

Now that you are logged in to RefWorks, hover over Bibliography (one of the options at the top of your screen).

From the dropdown menu that appears, select Output Style Manager.

Note: Due to software compatibility issues, you may need to open RefWorks in a new window to access this functionality during the tutorial. Outside of the tutorial, you will not need to.

Adding Citation Styles

The Output Style Manager box will appear.

From here, you can select output styles to add to your favorites by clicking the green arrows between the List of Output Styles box, and the Favorites box.

These are the output style options you will have when you use RefWorks.

Don't worry -- you can always add more.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You now know how to select Citation Output Styles and add them to the Output Style Manager.
